About Me
I am passionate about the educational and research potential of primary source materials, and I will complete my master’s degree in information studies at the University of Texas in December 2010 with a specialization in archives and special collections. I also have a master’s degree in art history and over six years of experience in libraries, museums, and archives.
My coursework has included classes in special collections administration, the history and arts of the book, museum studies, and archival enterprise. I have a combination of academic and hands-on experience that has given me a broad base of technical and public services skills applicable to a variety of research environments.
My career goal is to use my enthusiasm, technical skills, and service orientation to improve access to cultural heritage – documents, rare books, artifacts, and art objects – through outreach and instruction, both in-person and online. Helping others to connect to these types of materials has been one of the most rewarding types of work in which I have been engaged, and I look forward to continuing my professional career in this field.
